The expertise of Sattler & Schanda in the field of energy law dates back to the beginnings of liberalization in the year 1998. In 1999, the first legal commentary on Austrian energy law was published by our partner Dr. Schanda in its first edition. Since 2001, we have been the Austrian representative office of the German energy law firm Becker Büttner Held and the Austrian representative in AEEC (Associated European Energy Consultants).

We advise (i) industrial and commercial consumers in matters of self-generation, connection to the supply system, and energy procurement, (ii) foreign market participants in safeguarding their interests in Austria and (iii) project operators (project engineers) and operations of facilities for the use of renewable energy sources with a special focus on the field of wind energy.

Our partner Dr. Schanda is chairman of the advisory committee of IG Windkraft (Wind Energy Association) and deputy chairman of the supervisory board of WEB Windenergie AG.

Our office is also academically active in the field of energy law, by publications and lecturing. Dr. Schanda is the Austrian correspondent of the German law review “Zeitschrift für neues Energierecht” (New Energy Law Review).
